I recently made a post about how I always look forward to my last meal of the day, which is eating my casein before bed and that is no joke. I literally would rather eat my casein at night then a huge bowl of ice cream because I have figured out so many different ways to make it tastes so amazing! Lets start with the basics though. What is Casein and why do I need it?
Casein has the ability to provide your bloodstream with a slow and steady flow of amino acids that could last for hours. It is a slow digesting protein that feeds your muscle throughout the night while you’re sleeping! How awesome is that!? Whey protein hits your muscles at a fast rate to help repair and give your muscles the essential amino acids needed right after a workout. Casein takes a little longer for your body to metabolize, but at night…that’s exactly what you want!
It is incredibly easy to make and super delicious!
I usually use the ABS Protein Pancake Mix in Chocolate Chip and just add a few more sugar free chocolate chips to it because the pancake mix is thicker and comes out like cookie dough…plus it is gluten free and all natural! However, you can also use just a clean and natural flavored Casein. Here is the recipe I used to make this:
1 Scoop ABS Protein Pancakes in Chocolate Chip
2/3 Cups Unsweetened Almond Milk
1 Tbsp Stevia Sweetened Chocolate Chips
Place in Freezer for about 15-20 minutes to let it thicken and harden like dough/ice cream and it comes out just like cookie dough and tastes amazing!
Nutrition is based off the mix I used:
10g Net Carbs
So good it almost feels like a cheat and it is simple enough you can enjoy it every night!!
