A couple weeks ago I was feeling a little burnt out, emotional and “stuck”. My training was on point, my nutrition and sleep were on point, but it still felt like a part of me was just ready to quit. I hopped on a call with a friend and explained how I was feeling and her response was “maybe you just need a night or day that you dress up, wear heels and just pamper yourself!”. After I thought about it, it had been a while since I had dressed up and wore anything other than gym clothes and a sweaty pony tail so thatRead More →

On this week’s Real Women Talk episode, I was so excited for the question we received from one of our listeners/viewers about nutrition and her workouts because most of the questions we receive are geared towards how to lose weight or tone up. This one was focused more on weight gain and how to do it without putting on fat. Here is the question we received from our listener Angie this week: “Hi! I’ve been following your podcast for a year and I love it. I have a question about training and nutrition: I’m 5ft, 93lbs with 13% bodyfat. I want to gain weight butRead More →

I posted this workout the other day on Instagram because I was in a hurry and needed a workout that was short and effective and so many people commented saying they tried this workout and it was such a good total body burner so I had to share it on here! Most of the follow along workout videos I share on ABS Fit Life TV are a result of me traveling or being busy and only having my own body weight or a pair of dumbbells to get in a good workout so I hope they are helpful to you as well when you needRead More →

One of the best ways to reduce cellulite, tone and strengthen your legs and butt is to regularly perform strength training workouts with dumbbells, kettlebells, barbells and weighted exercises. I get asked a lot of if lifting heavy weights will make you bulky or too muscular and it always makes me laugh because I perform HEAVY strength training 5-6x a week and it is the way I actually stay lean, fit and slim. I am constantly posting on my Instagram all of my latest Olympic Lifts and workouts and you will always seeing me lifting things close to body weight or heavier and I encourageRead More →

Have trouble figuring out what to eat at each meal to hit your weight loss and fitness goals? In today’s episode we will go over what are healthy fats, what are healthy carbs, and the best lean protein sources along with how to figure out how much of eat to put on your plate at each  meal to make sure your serving size and macronutrient needs are being met. A few tips I use to make sure my serving sizes are in the right portion without having to measure out every single food are: I use a smaller plate since the smaller “side” plates areRead More →

What is the difference between skill work and conditioning training when it comes to your health and fitness goals? One of the main differences is skill training focuses on perfecting or improving a specific exercise such as handstands, double unders, olympic lifts, pull-ups, push-ups, etc. For example, when I am doing my regular lifting workouts combined with some sort of metabolic conditioning, I will typically take 20 minutes before or after the workout to just focus on any area that needs the most improvement or is a “weak” point for me. Currently, I have been putting in a lot of time breaking down the muscleRead More →

After years of being in the Women’s Health & Fitness space and on our own journeys, we have tried it all and seen it all. We’ve tried out almost every supplement brand with multi-vitamins, protein powders, recovery drinks, and even some of the best feminine products and clothing. Kindal and I both decided to do a full chat just going over what some of our favorite Fitness & Nutrition brands are for women that we have come to love over the years.  Just to give you a heads up, we do not make any money off recommending these brands at all we truly just loveRead More →

We recently received a question from one of our listeners who asked “Outside of my Crossfit workouts, what are specific exercises I can be doing on my off days to improve my strength and overall tone?“.  This is a double sided question because there are specific “accessory” exercises you can do outside of your regular workouts to focus on specific areas that are weaker than others, BUT in regards to increasing your overall tone any type of heavy strength training will improve the tone and shape of your body. Increasing your overall strength is something that takes time, consistency and discipline and requires training your bodyRead More →

I started learning about and lifting weights back in 2008/2009 when I was looking for a healthy outlet to relieve stress and boost my confidence. When I started out, every day I looked forward to just putting my head phones in and shutting out the rest of the world for an hour or so and just building my strength physically which built my strength inwardly. The idea of working out with other people just didn’t make sense to me and didn’t seem as therapeutic as lifting by myself. I was independent and confident and didn’t need anyone to hold me accountable to workout becauseRead More →

One of the biggest myths and questions I get when working with women on their fitness goals is the fear that if they lift heavy weights they will end up looking bulky or like a man. On top of that, it’s the fear factor of looking stupid stepping of the cardio equipment and machines and stepping into the unknown (which of course translates to a lot of things in life). When I went from high school to college and no longer was playing sports, I followed the path I thought everyone did to lose weight and get in shape with lots of cardio. However, IRead More →
